Pool Party | Whimsical Boston Terrier Art Print

I painted this little guy like he owns the pool. Those enormous ears are standing at full attention, his bright blue eyes are locked on you, and he has the very serious expression of a Boston Terrier who has appointed himself official pool supervisor.

I built his black-and-white coat with layers of deep teal, turquoise, navy, and crisp white, letting the marks stay loose and energetic rather than trying to make his fur perfectly realistic. Against the bright aqua water, those cool colors give the whole piece a fresh, summery feel while his wonderfully stern little face keeps it from taking itself too seriously.

I love painting animals with personality, and Pool Party is full of it. He’s colorful, quirky, and just a little bit bossy—the kind of dog art that brings some humor to a room without feeling like novelty decor. I print every piece in my studio so I can make sure the saturated blues, crisp details, and layered textures look the way they do in my original digital painting on the iPad.
