Meet Katie Thornsvard: Artist Behind Wild Thorn Collective

Hi, I’m Katie, the artist behind Wild Thorn Collective! After a long and rewarding career as a finance executive and CPA, I’ve been taking time to explore my creative side, something I’ve always loved but hadn’t made space for until now. While I haven’t walked away from spreadsheets, I’ve found that painting and building things with my hands has been the perfect counterbalance to the structured world of finance.

One of my favorite parts of any hobby has always been collecting supplies. It’s practically its own hobby! Who hasn’t bought “just one more thing” for a someday project, only to never actually start it? That was me, until recently. These days, I’m making time to actually create, and that’s where the real fun begins. Wild Thorn Collective grew out of this joyful return to making things for the sake of making them.

Wild Thorn Collective is all about bold color, quirky ideas, and playful design. As a newer woodworker and digital painter, I love turning the images in my head into tangible, joyful pieces you can hold or hang. I always dreamed of painting, but traditional media never quite clicked for me. Digital art changed everything. It unlocked the freedom I needed to bring my ideas to life.

Each piece is made with personality and intention, especially my whimsical animal prints. I paint quirky dogs, curious cats, wide-eyed birds, and other expressive creatures that add playful charm to any space. From funky handpainted wooden stars to vibrant giclée prints and greeting cards, everything I create is designed to spark a little delight, whether you're decorating a cozy nook or looking for the perfect one-of-a-kind gift.
